Here’s the Scoop: Sacramento’s Sweetest Spots to Celebrate National Ice Cream Day

July 18, 2025 by rteague Leave a Comment

National Ice Cream Day falls on Sunday, July 20, and what better way to beat the Sacramento heat than with a cold, creamy treat from a beloved local shop? Whether you’re into traditional flavors or looking to try something wildly unique, our region has some serious scoop game.

Here are a few of my personal favorites:

Gunther’s Ice Cream – Curtis Park

A Sacramento institution since 1940, Gunther’s is all about rich, house-made ice cream and vintage vibes. Their 33 rotating flavors range from old-school favorites to tropical treats (hello, Hawaiian Delight). Don’t miss the iconic fruit freezes on a hot day. The line may be long, but it’s always worth it.

The Parlor – Sacramento

A modern twist on dessert, The Parlor is known for their indulgent ice cream puffs and donut ice cream sandwiches. With bold flavors, creative toppings, and handcrafted combos, it’s a must-visit spot for anyone looking to level up their sweet treat game. Perfect for sharing—or not!

📍 2620 Fair Oaks Blvd, Sacramento

Leatherby’s Family Creamery – Arden + Elk Grove + Citrus Heights

Family-run and full of giant portions, Leatherby’s is the go-to for decadent sundaes, caramel-drenched creations, and over-the-top banana splits. It’s where memories are made—whether you’re celebrating a birthday or just satisfying a serious sweet tooth.

Trending Now: What Buyers Want in 2025

June 16, 2025 by rteague Leave a Comment

Thinking about selling your home this summer? You’re not alone—and if you want to stand out in today’s competitive market, it helps to understand what buyers are prioritizing right now. According to a recent article from HomeLight, this year’s buyers are focusing on move-in ready homes that offer comfort, efficiency, and functional space both inside and out.

Here are some of the top features rising to the top of buyer wish lists:

Updated Kitchens and Bathrooms
Fresh, modern kitchens and bathrooms remain high on nearly every buyer’s priority list. Think clean lines, updated cabinetry, newer appliances, and stylish finishes. Even modest updates can significantly boost appeal.

Energy-Efficient Features
Buyers are increasingly mindful of utility costs and environmental impact. Homes with solar panels, newer dual-pane windows, smart thermostats, and energy-efficient HVAC systems are attracting more attention.

Outdoor Living Spaces
Functional outdoor areas have become essential. Buyers are looking for patios, decks, pergolas, and shaded spots where they can relax and entertain. Low-maintenance landscaping and privacy features also add value.

Ample Storage
Walk-in closets, built-in pantries, organized garages, and additional storage space throughout the home are in high demand. Buyers want room for everything from seasonal gear to kitchen staples.

Modern Finishes
Today’s buyers are drawn to homes with updated flooring, fresh paint, modern lighting, and a cohesive, neutral color palette. These finishing touches can help a home feel current and move-in ready.

If your home already offers some of these in-demand features, you could have a major edge in today’s market. Wondering what to highlight—or what improvements might help maximize your sale? Let’s talk strategy.

Outdoor Living Trends for Summer 2025

June 13, 2025 by rteague Leave a Comment

As we embrace 2025, outdoor spaces have truly become extensions of our indoor living areas. Here are the top trends transforming backyards this summer:

Sustainable & Eco-Friendly Designs: Homeowners are prioritizing sustainability by incorporating recycled materials and drought-resistant plants into their outdoor spaces. This not only benefits the environment but also reduces maintenance costs.

Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Integration: The line between indoor and outdoor living is blurring. Features like oversized sliding doors and consistent flooring materials create a harmonious flow between spaces.

Advanced Outdoor Kitchens: Beyond the traditional grill, outdoor kitchens now boast pizza ovens, refrigerators, and even dishwashers, making alfresco dining more convenient and enjoyable.

Smart Outdoor Technology: From app-controlled lighting to automated irrigation systems, technology is enhancing the functionality and ambiance of outdoor areas.

Neutral and Earthy Tones: Color palettes featuring warm taupes, terracotta, and olive greens are dominating outdoor designs, creating serene and inviting atmospheres.

Considering an outdoor upgrade? Let’s find you a home with the perfect space to enjoy these trends!
